Does anyone have any tips on buying a old muscle car?
buy one thats been rebuilt or prepare to by all new parts!
This cannot be done without disastrous results. The entire vehicle structure has to be designed around the SRS (airbag system). I would be far more concerned about the sternum-crushing steering column, exposed metal and steel inches away from vital body parts and no collision intrusion beams in the doors than air bag tech on a older car.
The term "classic" is used for cars that are no more classic than my 20 year old toaster setting out a box in the shed. There is an organization (and the actual name of the group escapes me…but one does exist) that has established standards for a car to be a "classic" as opposed to a "collectible". There are no…repeat NO…post WW ll cars that have been designated "classic". Classic cars are cars of the 20’s and 30’s…Duesenbergs, Cadillacs, Hudsons, etc. You get the picture. That means all those lovingly restored 55-57 Chevys while being great cars are NOT classics. And that 25 year old Ford Crown Vic in the driveway is certainly not either. DMV’s set a 20-25 year standard for doling out license plates in a given state but truthfully how many clerks involved actually know what a "classic" is? So next time you read a for sale ad in the newspaper advertising a "classic" 1979 Chevy Monte Carlo….think what the term "classic" really means. Ask yourself…is that REALLY a classic car?
My uncle said its easier to work on old cars then new
why is that?
do you need spcial tools for old cars?
Whats consider to be old cars like 80’s 70’s?
Cars from the early 70’s and before did not have computer controls, you did not need a lot of special tools to work on them In fact, all that was really needed was a good set of wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, a torque wrench, timing light and tach/ dwell meter to do most repairs. There was not a lot of emission control items (if any) that were in the way, and with most cars there was plenty of room to work.
Today’s cars are computer controlled, and you need special tools and equipment to work on them.
LMC truck in Lenexa KS?
This is another question regarding autism, and there are more individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome/HFA entering college. I was wondering why no individual with classic autism is or will be attending college?
There is a difference between high-functioning autism/Asperger’s Syndrome and classic autism. Classic autism, individuals develop language late in life or not at all, unlike AS/HFA where individuals develop language earlier in life.
It is not true that no individual with classic autism attends college. Some individuals with classic autism DO go to college or enroll in online college courses. Not everyone with autism can go to college though, for various reasons, such as:
- Some have severe cognitive disabilities, so the studies would be too complicated for them.
- Some have a severe speech delay, so they cannot communicate well or even at all. They may not understand speech well either.
- Some cannot read and write, due to cognitive disabilities.
- Some don’t know how to interact with other people.
- Some have behavior issues.
- Some have really bad sensory issues, so they couldn’t handle that sensory environment.
- Some have a very short attention span.
- Some don’t want to go to college.
- Some have been underestimated and have not had enough learning opportunities to prepare them for college, because of other people’s low expectations of them. It’s sometimes hard to know how much the autistic person understands if they cannot communicate well.
Whether or not they can go to college depends a lot on how well the individual can function. Colleges accept students that need reasonable accommodations. Sometimes reasonable accommodations are simply not enough, so some people (whether they are autistic or not) are unable to attend college. Colleges don’t change the curriculum for students who can’t handle the normal curriculum for whatever reason.
What I am looking for is similar to how a bank would finance you 30K for a 1960’s car that the "book" says is worth nothing. Granted my car is not that old but it has so much invested in it that surely there must be a way for me to establish a credible loan value based on these things.
I actually I think you will find it quite difficult to get a loan value on something that is considered to be worth nothing…but good luck!
