Need ideas for decorating my 5 years old sons room – vintage cars like 57 chevy etc. Help??

Friday, February 5th, 2010

I would like to decorate my sons bedroom in a 50’s old car type of theme. OR any other COOL ideas would be appreciated. I found some wallies to put on the walls but need some more ideas for unique room!

Ebay and Ebay Stores are a good place to search on random key words.

Tin signs are cool wall art: http://stores.ebay.com/Tincrediblesigns_W0QQsspagenameZL2QQtZkm

More wall art ideas: Frame some postcards of classic cars for the walls. Buy some unfinished wood frames at Michael’s and paint them in colors to match. The same could be done for large posters, and you can get inexpensive poster frames, or just use push pins to hold them up.
(Ebay search: vintage car or (1957, 57) Chevy)

This poster’s gorgeous – great colors!

This is more of a race car item, thought I’d include it because maybe you’ll like it, or maybe it’ll help you brainstorm up something else:

Expensive, but fun to look at. Maybe the CD tower’s worth the splurge?:

How do you Install Airbags to Vintage Cars???

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

This cannot be done without disastrous results. The entire vehicle structure has to be designed around the SRS (airbag system). I would be far more concerned about the sternum-crushing steering column, exposed metal and steel inches away from vital body parts and no collision intrusion beams in the doors than air bag tech on a older car.

Beautiful pale coloured vintage-look new sports cars with soft tops?. Does anyone know what they are?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I keep seeing these beautiful soft tops vintage look sports cars in pale blue, brown and pink. In the last six months I seen quite a few on the road. They are very ‘old’/vintage in style but are obviously new. I’m dying to test drive one but don’t know what they are called or who makes them – can any help?

from your slight description I think this might be one of the Nissan cars product ed in the 90’s and that have been imported to the UK as used cars in the last few years only going by the colour scheme that you gave, as they were not mass produced and mainly sold in japan
similar to the old ford popular from the 50’s/60’s style or the Renault dauphin that was popular in the 60’s hope I’m right and not made a mule of myself

Are there really lots of vintage American cars in Cuba?

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I asked a woman at work, and she said they haven’t had anything like that in Cuba since 1959, but I saw a recent documentary on public T.V. that suggested otherwise. There were old 50’s model Chevys, Fords, Hudsons, etc. There were also a lot of small family-owned father and son businesses, where they were making custom-made parts from scarp metal and glass. If this is really true, how did the cars get there?

They imported them before the US embargo. Since they could not get cars any place else they have keep them running. PBS is not the only one to do stories on these cars several car mags have done them as well.

The London to Brighton vintage car rally- 20061

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Somehow people could no longer view this video… I have uploaded this video again… check here.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiM5JvYmoSQ

The London to Brighton vintage car rally is an annual event that showcases vintage cars built before 1905 and coming from all over the world.

I haphazardly came across this event hanging out in the street of East Croydon early in the morning while waiting to get ready to come back to New York City. When the first clip was taken, I had not known the funny looking cars were part of a rally. Rather, I thought that the people in East Croydon had some special kind of public transportation looking like the old cars. It was not until almost half and hour later when I asked a police what those things were did I learn about the annual rally.

Todays vintage car search!

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Went out today to pick up a few vintage car parts and to check out some new leads. While popping the liftgate glass out of the old Plymouth Suburban I spotted a deer about 20 feet away.Found the 51 Merc at a different location. What a shame that 2 door is beyond repair.

Owners of vintage and old classic cars?

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

How do owners of vintage and classic cars manage to obtain mechanical parts that need replacing?
As parts for these vehicles are no longer manufactured or produced, do they have to place a special order for a one off component and if so, how?

hi tango, you can join a vintage car club, and they issue magazines, of who is selling what, my auntie has the old, Mary quant mini, and she is in this, vintage car club, i think there are different clubs for different cars, blue
