I need names of old muscle cars from the 1960’s. I already have the Charger, Challenger, Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, Malibu, Mustnag and the Pontiac GTO. I need popular cars so can you please give me any names that I’m missing and your personal opinion of which car you would buy and why, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
How about the Chevy Cutlass???
Or a Chevy Corvette???

What will happen to low mpg muscle cars and high performance cars when 2016 rolls around, and the new CAFE standards are put into effect?
The same thing that happened in the 70’s when emission standards were introduced: performance tanked! But eventually technology will again catch up as it did in last two decades, and cars will get even faster and more powerful than they are now.
I would love to start off with the hardcore classic muscle cars, but I do no have any experience,or info, on owning (let alone driving) a muscle car.
Camaro
Chevelle
Torino
Gran Torino
Pontiac GT
Pontiac Firebird etc.
I’ll just add to everyone’s excellent answers…
I’d look for an early-model third generation Firebird or Camaro (early 80s to early 90s). Very easy to work on, VERY easy to find parts for, and there are tons of online forums to help with any issues you might have. If you need parts quickly, I guarantee you that any pick-n-pull yard will have at least 10 of them sitting out in the yard to choose from.
Also, you can find a decent example for about $2500. This will get you a straight body, decent interior, decent engine (probably tired, but can be refurb’d), etc.
This is my first video of Muscle Cars. It is about 3 years old and has a lot of stupid transitions but I think it is fun to watch. Enjoy!
