All the other sites only have new stuff….. 94 and up. And all the so called classic truck sites are for chevies and fords
Hi. First off, JC Whitney is a good start. Also the wrecking yard. I assume your truck is between 1972, and 1993. If it is a 72, 73, 74, 75, there were still some big blocks, 335 hp 383s, as well as 440s. If you have one of these there are tons of parts, aftermarket and MOPAR, (get your self a Direct Connection Mopar parts catalog). If you have a mid 70s to mid eightys truck. Not to worry. The fastest American Vehicle in 1977, and 78 was not a Trans Am, or Vette, but the Dodge Little Red Express truck. A dual exhausted, hi compression, 360- 4 Barrel , short bed , step side, in Dodge Red, with the duals ran up behind the cab, like a big diesel. You can find the hi compression 360, with the factory 4 barrels quite easily. Now, you take your stock mil. If it is a 318, or a 360 two barrel, throw away the manifold and carb, and go with an Edelbrock Manifiold, and their 4 barrel. A 650-750 cfm should do the job. while your at it get the Hi flow air cleaner, chrome is good, and a K and N , or similar air filter. Now we are breathing good, so lets go with a stainless header, lots of them out there, and three inch stainless, duals back to your Cat, and out to a low restriction muffler, like a flow master, and out to duals, ending with the big, 4 " by 18 " slash cut exhaust tips. Now this puppy not only sounds bad, but you have added about 80 or more horses. This is an inexpensive and basic way to make better power and gas mileage in this engine. If you shop around, this is not to expensive. I did this on three Dodges, a 1975 , with a 440, , an 80 360, and a 1997 fuel injected 5.9. Oh yeah, keep a clean fuel filter on this truck. If you can find the 245 hp , multi port injected engine, like my 97, you can easily get it to 350 hp, more if you go a Jet Chip. I did,t works. Even the carbed models will get you to around 300 ponies with the 360 engines. Unless you are towing a heavy load, stay with a rear end ratio around the 355 . This will give you good passing power,as well as better gas mileage. Hope this helps. Have fun.
Where can I find performance parts for older dodge trucks? Like a 1985 ram?
February 5th, 2010what are the best places for finding used cars for sale?
February 5th, 2010I am looking around to see which places are the best to find used cars that sale for eight hundred to one thousand dollars. I look at the goverment auction sites but I am still not sure which place are the best to buy a car that sale for that amount
Auctions are a great place to find cheap prices on cars. Look on eBay as well. Check the NickelAds, your local paper for cars under $1k, and check out AutoTrader or CarSoup.

Does anybody have experience with putting a diesel in a muscle car?
February 5th, 2010I would like to build a big muscle car, like a 1969 Charger, with a modified 5.9L Cummins turbo diesel. I have seen modified diesel pickups that run 12s in the 1/4, get 20 mpg, and are driven every day. I imagine that I could do the same with a Cummins powered Charger. Has anybody seen one or even heard of one? How difficult of a task would it be?
i have seen it done with a 5.9 liter cummins in a 1970 monte carlo. as long as you have the donor vehicle that the motor came out of shouldnt be too bad. regarless of what you use you will have a lot of custom fab work to do with getting guages working if you use the original guages in the car. just use the motor and transmission and you will have to have some custom mounts made for it. i would get a bigger rear end for the charger. something equivelant to a dana 60 and put some highway friendly higher gears in it. something like a 3.08 to 1. you will need the bigger rear end to handle the torque. i would also put heavier rear springs in it and traction bars. you will also have to have a custom drive shaft made for it even if you use the original rear end. whether you use a cummins in the dodge charger or a duramax, or a powerstroke, none of these will just simply drop right in. none of these motors ever originally came in the car, so its gonna be some work.
whether you go with a v8 diesel or inline 6 it will be some work but one thing to remember is the inline 6 diesel from cummins makes its power at a lower rpm… a good thing , mroe torque at lower rpm. this is due to its longer stroke than the v8’s
Need ideas for decorating my 5 years old sons room – vintage cars like 57 chevy etc. Help??
February 5th, 2010I would like to decorate my sons bedroom in a 50’s old car type of theme. OR any other COOL ideas would be appreciated. I found some wallies to put on the walls but need some more ideas for unique room!
Ebay and Ebay Stores are a good place to search on random key words.
Tin signs are cool wall art: http://stores.ebay.com/Tincrediblesigns_W0QQsspagenameZL2QQtZkm
More wall art ideas: Frame some postcards of classic cars for the walls. Buy some unfinished wood frames at Michael’s and paint them in colors to match. The same could be done for large posters, and you can get inexpensive poster frames, or just use push pins to hold them up.
(Ebay search: vintage car or (1957, 57) Chevy)
This poster’s gorgeous – great colors!

is there a good site to get valuations for old cars for restoration projects?
February 5th, 2010I am looking to determine the best old car to restore, and if I could find the values of the ones I am looking at as they sit, not finished cars, this would be a great help
If you want to restore cars to make money, it’s unlikely to work as it takes a lot of money and time. I’d recommend picking a make of car you love, join the appropriate car club and learn as much as you can about it. Often the club newsletter is the best way to learn what cars in various states of restoration are worth, and you can get invaluable advice from genuine experts. I did this when I was looking to buy an older Bentley and I wound up getting a true bargain on an unrestored, but beautifully original car. However, I would not make money if I sold it, because the maintenance and repair costs have exceeded what the car is worth. I did it because I love the cars, not for the money.
how high in demand is auto repair for classic cars?
February 5th, 2010i am a mechanic, but only know about older muscle cars, and classics, could i make a living off of that type of auto repair. Also vintage bikes as well….
Its possible you could make a living off of that but you will either have to find a shop that specializes in that sort of thing or start your own business.
What is a good classic car to drive everyday?
February 5th, 2010I really like classic cars, and would like to get one for an everyday driver. I like cars from the mid-fifties and earlier, I am looking for something in automatic because I have shoulder problems.
What about an old Chevy Belleair, those are really nice.
New collector cars?
February 5th, 2010Due to the overinflated prices of musclecars do you think that Cars made after 1972 will become collectable? One thing they do have is v8 and rear wheel drive and they are cheap. but some are sure ugly. What do you think?
If you mean collectable as in a ‘69 Camaro/Mustang/Cuda collectable, then no. Outside of the ’70s Firebirds, Camaros, and Corvettes, none of them will ever have any real value. The V8 rear wheel drive aspect and cheap price will keep some of them from the junkyard to be used on the dragstrip. In my opinion, a collectable would need to have some level of innovation and uniqueness that would make them stand out from the crowd. I just don’t see that in the ’70s crowd.
I will say that some of the foreign cars will continue to be collectable such as the 240/280Zs and other sporty imports. They have always had a reasonable following and should continue to through the years.
if u buy an antique car to place in car shows, is it possible to lose money on the cars value or not?
February 5th, 2010im thinking about purchasing an antique police car to use in parades and car shows….i would think that if a person has the money to invest in such, its impossible to lose money on the car as long as u keep it in excellent condition
yes, you can loose money you have upkeep a car that old has a tendency to rust, floor boards rust all that has to be fixed you have to buy the car for a lot less than what it is worth to break even when you sell the car
